This AVID District Leadership (ADL) 1 Community of Practice is designed for new District Directors who are beginning their learning journey. It will focus on understanding the roles and responsibilities of the District Director, as well as understanding AVID’s mission, certification, and data collection.

This strand will focus on the writing process and writing-to-learn strategies, as well as the intentional use of purposeful oral language and listening activities to enrich and expand students’ abilities to participate in academic discourse.

This strand is designed for History/Social Science teachers (grades 6–12) who are interested in incorporating rigorous instructional strategies through a scaffolded approach that can be used to deepen student engagement, skill-building, and learning in all classrooms.
