The AVID Elementary Implementation: PreK–2 Community of Practice engages primary educators new to AVID by exploring strategies and resources focused on the keys to successful implementation. Educators will gain an understanding of their role in an AVID Schoolwide system and how educator encouragement, modeling, and support of Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR®) strategies build the foundation for what students need for college and career readiness. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced in this Community of Practice can be leveraged in face-to-face, blended, or virtual learning environments.
This Community of Practice requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the session. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date.
This learning experience is for new, contracted AVID Elementary member sites for the upcoming school year and new AVID Elementary educators and Site Coordinators at existing sites.
