The Implementing Computer Science in All Classrooms — Secondary Community of Practice in Collaboration With Amazon Future Engineer, is designed as an introduction to engage 6–12 educators who are unfamiliar with computer science. The focus of computational thinking and problem-solving will bring awareness that the thinking processes of computer science are applicable to secondary-aged students in all subject areas. This experience will expand participants’ ability to support the thinking and problem-solving strategies of their students. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced can be leveraged in face-to-face, blended, or virtual learning environments.

This Community of Practice requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the session. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date.

  • Acceptable devices include laptops, Chromebooks, Surface devices, iPads, and iPad Pros.
  • Unacceptable devices include mini iPads, Kindle or Galaxy tablets, and smartphones.
