This strand offers professional learning for educators to support, encourage, and empower STEM literacy for all students. It will provide educators with instructional practices in rigorous, multidisciplinary, hands-on STEM experiences to guide classroom instruction in grades 6–8. Strand participants will work together to better understand STEM as both an integrated subject area and a pedagogy, to practice hands-on applications of STEM through design-based activities, and to identify real-world problems that can be woven into a variety of curriculum and teaching contexts. Educators will leave equipped to better identify, apply, and teach STEM content through an authentic, integrated approach in their educational settings.
This strand requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the strand. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and web browser need to be up to date.
