This Career and Technical Education: Developing Employability Skills Community of Practice is designed to engage middle and high school level career and technical educators and program directors as they support their students in developing the skills necessary for current and future success. Participants will consider what future readiness looks like for their students, and then explore how AVID Instructional strategies can be embedded to foster and nurture their success. Educators will learn how to actively engage students in developing professional skills like critical-thinking, collaboration, and organization, while supporting their long-term aspirations. Differentiated learning opportunities will allow participants to reflect on their specific practice and context while preparing all learners for a modern, global, competitive society. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced can be leveraged in face-to-face, blended, or virtual learning environments.
This Community of Practice requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the session. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date.
