The Fostering an Equitable and Engaging Culture in Classrooms Community of Practice is designed to address and meet the need for PreK–12 and postsecondary educators, counselors, and site leaders to foster an equitable and engaging culture for learning. Participants will explore current research and engage in critical conversations around the composition of a culturally responsive classroom. This collaborative experience will engage participants in strategies that will guide them in creating a supportive classroom community, empowering student voice, and establishing and maintaining rigorous expectations. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced can be leveraged in face-to-face or virtual learning environments.
This Community of Practice requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the session. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date.
Three-day professional learning through a virtual platform using videoconferencing provides a high-paced, interactive, dynamic learning experience while modeling engaging and rigorous instruction. There will also be an opportunity to engage with colleagues throughout the school year to deepen and broaden learning through Extended Learning Pathways, On-Demand Learning modules, One-to-One Collaborative Coaching, and professional discourse.Register
