The Site Leaders — Experienced Community of Practice engages site-based leadership with prior AVID leadership training and experience leading AVID implementation or refinement at their sites. Participants will continue their investigation of the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and the four AVID Schoolwide Domains to refine existing practices and develop new strategies for maximizing AVID’s impact at their site. Leaders will leave with personalized action steps as they work to make AVID a driver for system-wide change on their campus. All strategies, digital activities, and digital tools experienced in this Community of Practice can be leveraged in face-to-face, blended, or virtual learning environments.
This Community of Practice requires all participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the session. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date.
This learning experience is for contracted elementary and secondary AVID Site Leaders who have completed the first-year training for implementation.
Three-day summer virtual professional learning event featuring real-time interaction with facilitators and peers nationwide in both a Community of Practice and a session illustrating ways to extend learning throughout the school year, engage in productive planning, and ignite inspiration campuswide. Plus, time is provided before or after virtual learning for individuals to further reflect or for sites and districts to host their own activities.
Four 3-hour professional learning modules through a virtual platform using videoconferencing provide a high-paced, interactive, dynamic learning experience while modeling engaging and rigorous instruction. There will also be opportunities to engage in One-to-One Collaborative Coaching.
